Carol Pfile Banner, lovingly known as Granny (but also known to grudgingly answer to Granny Troll), of Georgetown, Texas was born February 13, 1938 in Galena, Illinois and was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing on January 8, 2017 in Texas.
Granny was married to Ronnie Pfile for nearly 33 years, with whom she had five children; they divorced in 1990. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 17 years where she met her second husband " Teddy" and they married in 1994. She retired from the Postal Service in 2003. She was a dedicated worker, often working more than one job and putting many men to shame with her hard work and stamina. A lover of family of family, hater of snakes and all things snake-shaped (even glittery pink fishing lures!), Granny was a handywoman who, after retirement, continued to stay busy gardening on her property and doing pretty much anything anyone told her she couldn't do! Her travels in her later years took her to France, Brussels, Washington DC, Hawaii, California and Oregon and she loved to visit family in Illinois, Alaska and Missouri when possible.
When she wasn't being lovingly teased about her short stature, Granny could be found completing jigsaw or Sudoku puzzles, sewing clothes and blankets for family, baking sweets, or watching the Hallmark Channel, JAG or Golden Girls. Her happiest moments, however, were when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered in her home for holidays and celebrations. She brought life, love and laughter everywhere she went and to everything she did.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Eleanor (Schoenfeld) Kriebs, her husband Earnest “Teddy” Banner, as well as 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Julie and Redha Bensadi of Taylor, Texas, Timothy and Theresa Pfile of Galena, Illinois, Jeff Pfile and Kris Eriksen of Kenai, Alaska, Ronnie Pfile of Georgetown, Texas, and Angela and Ron Haberman of Sterling, Alaska; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Carol's life will be at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas.
Arrangements under the direction of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams, Georgetown, Texas 78628 (512) 863-2564.
