Cheryl Lynne Boudreau began her life as the second daughter of Herbert (Herb) and Barbara Webster born on September 3, 1946 in Keokuk, Iowa joining her older sister Cathy. Many more siblings came along - brothers William (Bill) and Robert (Bob) and sisters Carol, Carla and Connie. Cheryl’s dad was in the US Air Force, so they moved around a fair bit including to Chateauroux, France where she graduated from high school. Being a “military brat” shaped her early life including meeting her future husband at the Air Force base in Bangor, Maine.
Cheryl and Ed Boudreau married in 1968 in Bangor, Maine and quickly relocated to the Air Force base in Puerto Rico where they lived for 3 years. They didn’t have much money during those early days - living in a mobile home and saving Coke bottles to go to the movies - but they made lifelong friends and enjoyed the local rum. Their first two daughters, Barbara (Barbie) and Teresa (Terry) were born in Puerto Rico in 1968 and 1970, respectively.
In 1971, Cheryl and Ed relocated to Dallas, Texas where they would live for the next 46 years.Soon after moving, their third daughter, Stephanie (1971), was born. Cheryl and Ed’s family continued to grow with the birth of their only son, Brian (1978), daughters Bonnie (1981) and finally Bethany (1985).
They lived most of their lives in Dallas in the Lake Highlands area where their children attended the local schools and Cheryl gave many hours volunteering, substitute teaching and supporting the LHHS Wildcats. She was also a Girl Scout leader and designated adult camper for her daughters for many years instilling in them a love of nature and the outdoors. Cheryl dedicated her life to raising her children and making a family home filled with love, laughter and tradition.
In Dallas, Cheryl was a 30+ year member of Bethany Lutheran church. She made many deep friendships during her years at the church. She was a member of the choir, drove for Meals on Wheels for over 20yrs, volunteered with Mt Olive Food Pantry for decades and worked as the Director and board member of the Child Development Center. Cheryl’s faith in Christ was integral to her being and gave her strength and support throughout life.
Cheryl lived her life with kindness in her heart and never met a stranger. She loved to chat with anyone and everyone, and we have heard many stories of how these small but meaningful interactions impacted the people she met throughout her life. She was a loyal friend and loved making new ones! She enjoyed playing Wordle and sharing her scores with a long list of friends- just a bit of friendly competition - and was a wicked smart Mahjong player. Cheryl was an avid reader and passed on her love of reading and the joy of public libraries to her children and grandchildren.
After beginning her university studies at the University of Illinois earlier in life, she returned to university as an adult. She graduated Cum Laude in 1999 from the University of Texas in Dallas with a BA in Art History. She loved learning about the Arts, visiting museums all over the world, and listening to and attending performances of symphonies, chamber music and opera. Chery lalso had a beautiful singing voice and would sing along her favorite songs especially hymns she loved in church.
In Dallas, you could often find Cheryl enjoying the beautiful flowers at the Dallas Arboretum where she was a member for many years. She especially loved the Spring flower displays, the pumpkin creations in the Fall and of course the Christmas decorations. The Christmas season was a favorite for Cheryl especially while living on Timber hollow Circle as the “Nine Ladies Dancing” home, part of the famous 12 Days of Christmas street. She loved to be a part of that tradition and especially treasured the amazing friends she made while living there.
Beginning in 2004, Cheryl took on a new role as ‘Grammy’ to her beloved 7 grandchildren, first with her eldest granddaughter Abigail (Abby) Burgett, then Andrew Burgett, twins Alexia (Lexi)and Madeline (Maddie) Koller, Katherine (Kat) Shaw, Samantha (Sam) Burgett and finally BeauConger. Grammy loved to spend time with her grandchildren reading books, playing Sorry! and Yahtzee with them, sharing conversations, making her famous homemade waffles and lemonade, and supporting them in their sports, scouts, choir, dance, band and theater activities.
In 2017, Cheryl and Ed made the tough decision to relocate from Dallas to Austin, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Though hard to leave so many dear friends, it was a choice that brought joy to them both being able to be a deeper part of the lives of their family and have many wonderful opportunities to gather together to celebrate all of the birthdays, holidays and ‘just because’ moments. Cheryl made many trips back to Dallas to visit friends and never let the distance impact the relationships that were so important to her.
Cheryl loved to travel and had the wonderful opportunity to visit all 7 continents along with her husband, Ed. They acquired more frequent flyer miles than most and had fun using them. They were also avid ‘cruisers’ enjoying both ocean crossings as well as many port destination cruises all over the globe. They never lost their sense of adventure and desire to explore new places and cultures.
On November 7, 2025 in Austin, Texas, Cheryl peacefully left this Earth to join her heavenly father. Her family and friends are devastated, but take comfort in the many joyous memories made with this firecracker of a woman that lived life to its fullest right up until the end. She kept a smile on her face, gratitude in her heart and the most positive attitude throughout all of her life.Anyone who had the chance to meet her left smiling and with a new ‘Cheryl’ story to share. She is already making new friends and having fun with those that passed before her in heaven including her parents, her brother Bob and sister Connie.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of almost 58 years, Ed Boudreau, daughters BarbieBurgett, Terry Shaw (Michael), Stephanie Koller (Paul), Bonnie Boudreau (David Conger),Bethany Boudreau (Michael Plefka), son Brian Boudreau, her adored 7 grandchildren Abby,Andrew and Sam Burgett, Lexi and Maddie Koller, Katherine Shaw and Beau Conger, and her siblings Cathy McEachern (Glenn), Bill Webster (Jennifer), Carol Parker (Fred) and Carla Vega(Pete).
