It is with great sadness, but with the promised hope of eternal life, we announce the passing of our beloved Chong Tok Lucas, who peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord surrounded by her family. Chong was born on Nov 25,1937 in Naju, South Korea and she is survived by her loving husband Robert, her five children Nonnie, Dennis, Robert Jr., Shawn, Hak and eight grandchildren Sarah, Esther, Chong Yong, Daniel, Laura, Anne, Tracey, and Molly. Chong and Robert married on March 31, 1971 and shared 55 years of life together.
In 1977, Chong accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior which she said was the most important, life-changing decision in her life. She then faithfully put her love for Jesus into practice by visiting the homeless under bridge overpasses handing out Bibles, blankets, and food. Chong’s love for the Lord was evident by her kind and compassionate heart and she loved witnessing God's love to everyone. Her special talent was cooking Korean food which reminded everyone about their own mothers’ home cooking, and she always loved to be in photos with her love ones and friends.
Chong served as Senior Deaconess in several Full Gospel Korean Churches for 48 years. She was actively involved in Sunday School where she taught Bible studies, sang in the choir and performed special solo songs during the offering service. Some of Chong's favorite songs were "God is so good to me," "He took my sins away," "If you got Jesus, you got a goldmine," and “Jesus is your ticket to Heaven." In 1979, Chong started a Full Gospel Korean Church in Goldsboro, N.C., which is still flourishing today preaching the Good News of salvation. Chong's two favorite Scripture verses were John 11:25-26, where Jesus said, "I AM the Resurrection and the Life, he who believes in me though he were dead, yet shall he live, and he who lives and believes in me shall never die."
Chong leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service to her Lord. She is now reunited in Heaven with her loved ones, friends, and those individuals she led to Jesus for salvation. May your memories of Chong be a blessing, a source of strength, and inspiration to you and everyone who knew and loved her. Most of all, we will certainly miss her loving spirit, warm smile and compassionate heart. We will always love you Chong now, forever and a day!
A visitation will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory, located at 393 N Interstate Hwy 35, Georgetown, TX 78628, on November 25, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A memorial service to celebrate Chong's life will be held on Wednesday, November 26 at 11:00 AM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery 11463, TX-195, Killeen, TX, 76542.
