OBITUARY

Cynthia "Cyd" Ann McGlauflin

January 28, 1957February 5, 2019

Cynthia “Cyd” McGlauflin, passed away Feb. 5 at the age of 62 in her home surrounded by family and friends after her long battle with cancer. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Willard and Shirley Froseth, she grew up in Denver, Colorado.

She attended and graduated from Colorado State University, where she met and married her husband, Duane McGlauflin. They moved to Austin in 1981 where she pursued her career as “The Plant Lady” caring for interior plants.

A beloved mother of three children, Tia, Casey and Hank, she was dedicated to all of their endeavors including Girl Scouts, church activities, soccer, and provided endless support to all of their pursuits.

Her passions were gardening, antiquing and garage sales. She never passed up a yard sale regardless of where or when it might be. Cyd made friends everywhere she went; she never met a person she couldn’t relate to and would strike up a conversation with anyone she encountered.

Throughout her fight with cancer, she fought with tenacity, grace and a continual positive attitude; her sense of humor never subsided.

She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley (Kontz) Froseth and is survived by her father Willard Froseth, husband Duane, her children Tia (McGlauflin) Smith and husband Rusty Smith with granddaughter Mabel Ann Smith, Casey and Jena (Baker) McGlauflin, Hank McGlauflin, sister Susan Froseth, sister Cheryl (Froseth) Shaw, husband Jeff Shaw, brother Bruce Froseth and wife Susan (Kruel) Froseth, brother Steve Froseth and wife Debbie (Dick) Froseth, as well as many cousins, nieces, aunts, uncles and lifelong friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Andice Baptist Church on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. with a grave site burial for family members only. A reception will follow at Cimarron Hills Country Club in Georgetown, Texas.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

I loved Cyd from the moment we first met! As a new neighbor, she came to greet me with homemade brownies, and struck up a long, easy conversation like we’d been lifelong friends. And instantly we were! We had many, many good times, and I will miss her madly. My heart goes out to Duane, Tia, Casey & Hank. Cyd was one in a million!
