David was a native Texan; born in Dallas on July 18,1943 to Catherine and Ernest Biscomb Sr.
David loved people and people loved him. He was a natural born leader who shared his talents through his service in the Texas Army National Guard and his volunteer commitments to Grace Episcopal Church and The United Way.
David had a love for knowledge and excelled as a student throughout his life. He earned a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Human Resources Management. While serving in the Army National Guard he completed several service specific courses including Rotary Wing Aviator, Armor Officer Advance, Command and General Staff College, and U.S. Army War College.
David served 31 years of active duty in the Texas Army National Guard. From 1964 to 1995 he served in various positions within the 49th Armored Division including: Medical Corpsman, Battalion Signal Officer, Air and Intelligence Officer, Personnel Officer, and Logistics Officer. In 1984 he was assigned to the State Headquarters and served in several positions including: the state’s first ever Force Integration Management Officer, Commander of the 8th Battalion/112th Armored Division, Chief of Staff of the 49th Armored Division, and his final post, upon retiring in March of 1995, Chief of the Support Division of the United States Property and Fiscal Office at the State Area Command Headquarters. Upon his retirement from the military he worked for New York Life as the Director of Human Resources until his retirement in 2006.
David had a rich and fulfilling personal life which included a love of family and friends, and a devoted faith practice. David was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Lucretia. Their union created a blended family of a daughter from each of their previous marriages and a son whom they had together; they lovingly referred to their family as “his, mine, and ours”. David and Lucretia enjoyed spending time together raising their family, hosting family gatherings, playing golf, and traveling around the globe. Together they built their dream home out in the country where they enjoyed gardening, spending time with grandchildren and gathering with neighbors.
David experienced some health challenges over the past 15 years that were daunting at times. David always came through with a fierce spirit and tenacity that surprised some, but not those who knew him. David endured 12 back surgeries, and after each one, he rose to walk and fight another day. David also battled lung cancer for the past 2 years, enduring chemo, radiation, and the removal of a brain tumor. You may have seen him wearing his t-shirt with the Superman logo; this logo was a perfect representation of David’s fighting spirit. He intentionally wore this shirt after back surgeries and during cancer treatment as a reminder to have faith and perseverance.
David fought like Superman until the end. He loved life and wanted to continue to live to share more of his loving light and spirit with the world. He ultimately accepted that he had completed his life’s journey and it was time for him to join his beloved Lucretia. He worked hard, fought tenaciously, and loved deeply. He shared his love and light with everyone he encountered.
David is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother, and his sister. He is survived by his three children: daughter Treon San Marco and husband Byron, daughter Tracey Parthé, husband Eric, and their children Paige, Justin, and Whitney, and son Alan Biscomb, wife Sherry, and their children Patrick, Beau, Micah, and Japheth.
