

Delmar David Boyd, Jr., 77, of Georgetown, passed away May 1, 2013. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Helen Catholic Church. David was born October 9, 1935, in Lexington, Kentucky to Delmar Sr. and Grace (Brooks) Boyd. He met and married Eileen Terese “Terri” and from this union six children were born. David and Terri helped with the Marriage Encounter program at their church, The Holy Family Catholic Church in California, for 25 years. The program counseled and prepared new couples before marriage. They were also Eucharistic Ministers there. David was a uniquely intelligent individual, having various college degrees in studies such as nuclear power, and rocket science. David worked for General Electric for a number of years during which he invented a cooling system for nuclear power. He was part of the Apollo 13 rocket program, and worked for a number of reputable companies such as McDonald Douglas Rockets, Aero Jet, and was a partner in West General Associates where he worked as an Environmental Engineer. Upon retirement he enjoyed the remote controlled airplane club, as well as square dancing. David was also a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, the highest degree of the order. He was a very funny, loving individual and will be missed by all. David was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 55 years, Eileen Terese “Terri”; son Delmar David III; and sister Mary Lou Cressman. He is survived by his children Georgia Kay Nelson, Cindy Lou Abell, Thomas Charles and wife Linda, Kimberly Lyndalynn and husband William Joseph Hunsinger, and Matthew John and wife Margret; grandchildren Vince, Victor, Cameron, Joshua, John, Michael, Jr.,A.J., Melissa, Mackenzie and Casey; and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, John-Paul, Michael III, Robert, Katelyn, Malek, Brandon, Kloey, Trevor, and Mattingly.
