Dee was born on September 2, 1940, in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Regina Steenhoek. Dee obtained her Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing degree from Calvin College and the Blodgett School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in Sioux Center, Iowa and at Georgetown Hospital where she retired in 2010.
Dee was committed to her church and faith, enjoyed traveling and attending operas, and was always reading. She rarely visited without bringing or baking her incredible cookies, breads, and desserts. She believed adding sugar and butter to any dish was the most likely way to improve it. She was a dedicated sports fan in particular to her Hawkeyes and Cardinals. Most of all she enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. She was full of life and found the positive side of everybody and every situation.
She leaves her beloved husband of 53 years, Gary; her daughter, Elaine Hansen and her husband Chris of Atlanta; her sons, Greg and his wife Jennifer of Austin and Cory and his wife Tara of Ft. Worth; and her brother, Don, and his wife, Joni, of Ft. Meyers, FL. She also leaves seven beautiful grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her dear siblings Kathy and Paul predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas.
Arrangements by Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628 (512)863-2564.
