Donald Lloyd Ledbetter

Pastor Donald Lloyd Ledbetter (Papa Don) age 82 of Georgetown Texas entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 8, 2019. He was born on August 13, 1936 in Cleburne, Texas to Lloyd Sanford Ledbetter and Fleta Powers Ledbetter.

Papa Don graduated from Gainesville High School, and Baptist Bible College of Springfield, Missouri. He married the love of his life, Bettye Ferrell of Henderson, Texas on 22 December 1959. They had 3 children together, Stephen Lloyd, Stacy Lynn, and Christopher Donald. He was the founding pastor of West Erwin St. Baptist Church, Tyler, Texas and pastored that church from 1962 thru 1969. He then pastored Puente Baptist Temple of La Puente, California from 1969 to 1979. It was in 1979 that Papa Don moved his family to Georgetown, Texas to start Heritage Baptist Church, which he pastored for 36 years.

Papa Don was preceded in death by parents Lloyd and Fleta Ledbetter, son Christopher, brother Johnny, father and mother in law Leonard and Bessie Ferrell, and brother in law Charlie Ferrell. He is survived by his wife Bettye, son Steve and wife Kay of Georgetown, daughter Stacy and husband Timothy Hughes of Burleson Texas. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Papa Don loved the Lord, and dedicated his life to the service of others. He was active serving in his community, which included two terms on the Liberty Hill school board. He was chairman of the Texas Baptist Bible Fellowship International, the South Texas Baptist Bible Fellowship, as well as president of the Baptist Bible College alumni association.
