Dorothy Ann (Schwertner) Blackmore was born January 7, 1950 in Georgetown, Texas, the daughter of Felix B. Schwertner, Jr., and Eleanora (Lefner) Schwertner. She passed from this life March 30, 2023 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 73.
Dorothy and Louis Blackmore were united in marriage on July 25, 1970 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2007. Dorothy and Louis used to enjoy traveling when they had the chance. They wouldn’t make reservations anywhere. They would just drive from state to state and stop and get a hotel when they got tired. Dorothy enjoyed cross stitch and embroidery in her spare time. Dorothy was known for remembering just about anything (birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, any other occasions or celebrations etc.) throughout the years. She loved family get-togethers. Dorothy also loved listening to polkas and waltzes and of course dancing to a polka or waltz when given the opportunity.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Eleanora Schwertner; sister, Helen Postma; sister-in-law, Shirley Schwertner; mother-in-law, Laura Pearl Blackmore; brother-in-law, Bill Blackmore; and great-nephew, baby Jimmie Proctor. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Mae Chavez and husband Israel and their children, Joah Chavez, Jaden Chavez and Leo Chavez; son, Denis Blackmore and wife Sheri and their children Heather Blackmore and Katy Blackmore; her siblings and spouses, Richard Schwertner, Susan (Schwertner) Dotson and husband Dale, Joe Schwertner, Mark Postma (Brother-in-law), Jacqueline (Schwertner) Allison, Elaine (Schwertner) Crane and husband Leaon, John Schwertner and wife Belinda (Morris), Elizabeth (Schwertner) Berumen and husband Alex; sister-in-law, Inge Blackmore; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, one great-great niece, other relatives and friends.
We would like to send out a special Thank You to the Suncrest Hospice Service, Georgetown St. David's Hospital Staff, and Compassus Hospice Service for taking such great care of Dorothy.
