

Dorris Martin Lovell of Georgetown, Texas, age 94 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6, 2020. Dorris was born on March 27, 1926 in Eddyville, Kentucky to David Marcel Lovell and Rosetta Cannon.
Lovell served in three branches of the armed services: Navy, Army, and the Air Force. He retired in 1968 having served for almost 25 years, serving during World War II, the Korean War, and Viet Nam. Among the awards received were the Navy: Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (1944 – 1946); Army: Occupational Medal (Japan), WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon (1946 – 1947); and Air Force: Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Outstanding Unit Award (Combat), Air Force Longevity Award, Vietnam Campaign Medal (1947-1968). After military retirement, Lovell served in the Air Force Reserve until 1974 and worked and retired from the Texas Turnpike Authority in 1988.
He was a member First Baptist Church of Jarrell, Texas. He also served on the Sowers, a group of volunteers serving the Texas Baptist Encampment in Palacios, Texas. He supported Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Wounded Warriors. He liked fishing, watching Texas Rangers Baseball, and watching westerns on television. His most favorite activity was visiting with his grandchildren.
Predeceased family include: Parents, Rosetta Canyon and David Lovell; siblings, Bertha Dunnagan, Sina Goodrich, Ida Smith, Reba Shue, Grace Carpenter, Eva McGladery, Julia Murray, Jewell Lovell, Oena Marshall, and Leonard Lovell.
Surviving family include: Wife, Glenna Lovell; daughter, Terry Wright; son-in-law, William Wright; grandchildren: Matthew Wright, Thomas Wright, Christa Wright, and Rebecca Bennett; great grandchildren: Adyn Bennett, and Avery Bennett; nieces, Maxine Lynn, Brenda Plyler, Donna Lovell; nephew David Lovell; and cousin, Betty Roberts.
Surviving friends and caregivers: Shannan Stubbs, Family Tree Assisted Living, Max and Charlotte Johnson, and Dorris’ adopted family: Misty Harris, Nicole and James DeMuth, Boston and Maddie DeMuth.
