Douglas Alan Harger

June 20, 1942 – July 3, 2026
Obituary of Douglas Alan Harger
IN THE CARE OF

Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home

Douglas Alan Harger, 84, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Doug was born to Douglas Ferdinand Harger and Marjorie Frances Brochard, who preceded him in death. He lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, humor, and devotion to the people he loved.

Doug is survived by his wife, Nancy Harger, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He was a proud father to his three children: Douglas Scott Harger and his wife, Lorna, and their sons, Jackson Wyatt and Dillon Everitt; Jeffrey Alan Harger and his wife, Michelle, and their sons, Logan Alan and Austin Patrick; and Karen Elizabeth Vogele and her husband, Dominique, and their children, Trey Douglas and Paige Elizabeth.

Doug graduated from Bucknell University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Immediately following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. From 1964 to 1966, he was stationed in Frankfurt and Munich, Germany.

Following his military service, Doug enjoyed a successful 37-year career in the industrial gases industry, where he earned the respect of colleagues through his dedication, leadership, and honesty.

Outside of work, Doug loved traveling with Nancy, playing golf, studying financial markets and investing, enjoying happy hours with his many friends, and savoring his signature gin martini—hold the vermouth, with a twist of lemon. He had a lifelong appreciation for music, was an avid Texans football fan, and never passed up the chance to enjoy a great meal shared with family and friends.

Doug will be remembered for his generosity and his compassionate heart. He had a gift for offering thoughtful advice, sharing a laugh, and showing up for those who needed him. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his family.

A celebration of Doug's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any charity of your choice in his memory or that you simply raise a gin martini—no vermouth, with a twist of lemon—in honor of a life well lived.
