
E. Fred Fischer, 82, of Round Rock, formerly of Westlake Hills, passed away, on October 23, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, of 58 years, Jeanne (Serur); son, Jason Fischer (Julia) of Los Angeles; brother: Don (Karen) of California; brother-in-law, Brigadier General John Serur, USAF, Retired (Judi) of Austin; grandchildren; Alex Ewart, Nina Ewart, and Jack Fischer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Fischer; brother, John Charles Fischer; and daughter, Charlotte Fischer Ewart.
In 1962, Fred earned a B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota; his M.B.A from the University of Texas in January of 1964. In the spring of 1964, he married Jeanne Serur. In January of 1966, Fred was drafted into the U.S. Army and was given a direct commission of First Lieutenant. After the Officers Basic Course, he was assigned to the Medical Field Service School at Fort Sam Houston where he taught health care economics for the Army-Baylor University Program. Within one year he was promoted to Captain. After leaving the Army, he worked for the American Medical Association in Chicago, and his family resided in Wilmette on the North Shore. Not too soon afterwards he was asked by Northwestern University to be the project director to consolidate their hospital laboratories. He was also a guest writer for Pathologist Magazine. Later he opened consulting offices in Lake Forest, Illinois.
In the fall of 2012, while he was on a business trip to Quebec he had a serious falling incident, which later became Parkinson’s.
