

Edgar “Ed” A. Milstead, age 84, of Florence, Texas, passed away on August 14, 2012. He was born, one of ten children, to parents Curtis and Cora (Ferguson) Milstead in Ball Prairie, Texas on July 15, 1928. Ed began his life long career in the U.S. Army in 1950 at the age of 22. During his career he was stationed in such places as Japan, Vietnam and Korea where he received many medals with three of them were Purple Hearts. Ed had many stories to tell about his time in the Army. He was an active member of American Legion Post 317 in Jarrell for over 34 years. Ed also worked as a Walmart greeter for over 14 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruby and six brothers.
He is survived by his daughter, Wytonya Wilson of DeRidder, Louisiana; and sisters, Geneva Harris of Georgetown, Texas, Junita Bracken of Camp Verde, Arizona and Betty Brown of San Angelo, Texas.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Young Memorial Chapel in Florence, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Florence City Cemetery in Florence, Texas with Pastor Roy Smith officiating and Minister Shawn Montandon assisting.
