

Edna Boyd Beasley, age 85, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Edna was born September 21, 1931 in Meridian, Mississippi the only child of Romanus Boyd (“RB”) Conner and Dova Edna Best Conner.
Edna's father was a minister and a coal miner from West Virginia. Her mother was a school teacher, and housewife originally from Jasper, Alabama. Edna graduated from the 12th grade at 16 yrs. old. She had been president of her senior class, 4-H Club president, and society editor of the school newspaper at White Rock High in Marshall, North Carolina. After studying U.S. History, English, Algebra, and Physics at Teachers College (Miss.); Edna graduated
from Little French Beauty Academy with a degree in cosmetology.
On July 1, 1950 Edna’s grandfather, Rev. Best, performed the marriage ceremony of Edna and Billy Joe (BJB) Beasley. The couple spent nearly 20 years abroad in Europe after BJB was stationed in West Germany when he served as an officer in the armed forces. Upon returning to the states they eventually
moved to Texas (Williamson County area now known as Ridgmar Landing at FM 2243 and Reagan Blvd. in Leander) to be close to her parents and aunts and uncle for whom she helped take care of as the years passed.
Edna worked as an instructor in a beauty academy, realtor, homemaker, and caregiver. She loved football, sewing, music, movies, mysteries, walking, and visiting friends. She, along with Bill, also enjoyed countless hours of community service and were named Citizens of the Year in Leander by the GLCC (chamber of commerce). She was a devout Christian and loved to read her bible and attended church until she was no longer physically able to do so. Their hobby of raising pure bred dogs (Chihuahuas, Doberman Pinschers) as true animal lovers never ended. The last pets Bill gave Edna were Duke and King in 2004 (Chihuahua brothers), only a few months before Bill passed away. King passed in 2013.
Edna is survived by her precious and beloved Duke Beasley, a host of local friends who became a family, as well as Geri Crago, Mildred James, and her friends, cousins, nephews, and nieces who live out of state. Her final months at home with Duke were made more special by the ladies of “Team Edna” led by longtime friend, Iris Davis; and the wonderful people from Capitol Hospice Care.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2017 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Crystal Lake Baptist Church in Leander, Texas with Pastor Daniel Patrick officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
