Elanda attended school in St. Joseph, Louisiana at Tensas Rosenwald High School. She was an exceptional athlete in basketball and was well known throughout the parish for her athleticism. She was brought up in church by her parents and accepted Christ at an early age. She remained a faithful member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, No. 1 under the pastorage of the late Reverend Fred Banks until she relocated. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1978, she later in years became a member of the Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Marlin Carter. After many years of serving under Pastor Carter's stewardship, he was called home to be with the Lord. The church then elected Pastor Issac Grant as the Pastor of the church where Elanda continue to serve faithfully under his leadership. While serving at the church, she served in several axillaries, including the Sanctuary Choir, Usher Board, Missionary Society and Minister wives & daughters. She also was a member of the Community Choir, Ministry Mass (M3) under the leadership of Minister Chester D.T. Baldwin. Elanda served and attended Greater Love Baptist Church until her health would no longer allow her to serve any further.
Elanda was a dedicated employee of Austin State School until she retired as a cook. She was very proud of her job and tried her best to help any client or Co-Worker when she could. Cooking was a passion of hers that she loved and enjoyed doing. She was also a splendid baker and was always willing to bake a cake for whatever occasion she was asked. She would take food to neighbors that was sick, the homeless down from her home or the store personnel at the nearest Convenient Store. This was just a part of heart that flowed from the inside to the outside. Elanda didn't have to know you to feed you.
Elanda was married to Willie B. White in 1968 and from this union Willie, Gary, and Preston were born. Elanda had three children before this marriage, Bonita, Robert and Tera. Elanda children were everything to her and she would defend them with all her strength whether right or wrong. However, if they were wrong, from the oldest to the youngest they would know consequences would swiftly follow. She later married Reverend William Wright. Reverend Wright loved "Linda" and would do anything in this world for her. Reverend Wright as we all called him, was faithful and loyal to his wife until his demise.
