Esther C. Miller

Esther C. Miller, 92, of Jarrell, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Esther’s family will gather for a time of fellowship and remembrance on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. A service of Praise and Thanksgiving will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 3:00PM at Zion Lutheran Church, Walburg. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Honoring Esther as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Miller, Ken Ziegler, Chris Schirmer, Dennis Teinert, Kevin Burks, and Clifford Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Leschber, Barbara Leschber, Marge Burks, L.J. Burks, Helen Pillack, Zettie Vogler, Frank Vogler, and Pat Stork. Esther was born September 17, 1919 in Weir, Texas to the late Ernest John and Martha Amanda Christine Kokel Buchhorn. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Esther was raised with her sisters on a farm in Walburg. After her schooling, Esther worked as a housekeeper at the Scottish Rite Dormitory. Esther married Adolph P. Miller on July 9, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg. They started their life together on a farm in Jarrell, and celebrated over 53 years of marriage before he passed away in 1993. She was a homemaker, and an excellent cook and seamstress. She spent many hours gardening and canning and also enjoyed crocheting. Her loving touch and creativity will be cherished and missed by all her family and all those lives she has touched in her precious time. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Christine Buchhorn; her husband of 53 years, Adolph P. Miller; and her sisters, Wanda Vogler and Elsie Teinert; and her great granddaughter, Lauren Miller. Esther leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Bryan D. Miller, Gary Miller and his wife Yvonne and Cindy Richter and her husband Kenneth; her sisters, Marge Burks and her husband L. J. and Helen Pillack; 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey Miller and his wife Emily, Deanna Ziegler and her husband Ken, and Audrey Schirmer and her husband Chris; her 5 great grandchildren, Katelyn Miller, Aaron Schirmer, Weston Miller, Sophia Ziegler, Eliana Ziegler; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
