Eunice Gattis

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, grandson Dustin Gattis and parents John and Esther Freydenfeldt.

She was survived by sons, Wayne and wife Kay of Georgetown, Ricky and wife Brenda of Liberty Hill and Doug of Jonah; (4) grandchildren, Kenny Gattis and wife Stephanie, Kimberly (Gattis) Briery and husband Paul, Kathy (Gattis) Suggs and husband Derrick, and Natasha Gattis; (8) great grandchildren, Sam Gattis, Amanda Gattis, Faith Briery, Madison Briery, Kinsley Briery, Jack Suggs, Aryann Suggs, Bethani Gattis; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Eunice taught many of us about true hospitality. She could be mopping floors, baking 10 loaves of her famous brown bread and giving a relative or neighbor a perm but when you arrived at her door (unannounced that you were coming) she would clear a spot on her table, make a pot of coffee and sit down with you like she had nothing better to do.

She was a great game player who knew her game well. She would teach you how to play but she wasn't going to "let" you win unless you earned it.

She played an important part in preserving the history of the Jonah community, its people, and the Jonah school.

She will be greatly missed by all who have benefitted by her knowledge and her willingness to share it.

The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 21, 2011 in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Jonah Cemetery in Jonah, Texas. She will be buried at Jonah cemetery next to her husband Jack.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Gattis, Dan Gattis, Joe Freydenfeldt, David Vasquez, Terry Zimmerman and Larry Homan.
