She was born on January 8, 1928 in Jonah, TX to Brijido & Mercedes Rodriquez and they later settled in Georgetown, TX. There she attended St. Helen’s Catholic Church & was a member of “Hijas de Maria Youth Group”. At Georgetown High School, Mom was active with the GHS volleyball team and in the marching band, playing the clarinet. She looked good in that uniform. In 1947 mom graduated as the 1st Hispanic female at GHS.
In January 1948, she married Vicente Richarte and was married for 35+ yrs. They settled in Houston where they raised their family. Mom was involved in many groups at St. Philip of Jesus Church & The Knights of Columbus #5077 Ladies Auxiliary.
She worked many jobs while raising her family & retired from Foley’s as a warehouse supervisor.
She loved sewing, quilting, cake decorating, BINGO and Casino trips but LOVED being around her family the most.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings - Antonio Rodriguez, Benito Rodriguez, Jermanita Rodriguez, Reyes Villanueva, Elvira R. Gauna, Jesse Rodriguez, Lupe DeLeon, & Tina Rios. Also preceded by her was her Aunt Juanita Rodriguez, close niece Paula Martinez, Son in Law Donald C. Leo and Great Grandson Grayson R. Kemp.
Mom wrote this part:
“She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Rosendo Richarte (Stephanie)from Houston, Dolores Leo from Houston, Vicente Richarte Jr. (Maria) from San Antonio and Raquel Richarte (Marlene) from Montgomery, TX
Five Grandchildren: Alexander Richarte, Sarah Richarte, Felicia Leo Kemp (Chris), Alicia Richarte and James Leo.
Five Great Grandchildren: Lucinda Davis, Saliah Robinson, Linus Maciukiewicz, Logan R. Kemp and Elliana L. Kemp.
Plus a host of nieces and nephews.”
The family would like to thank the caregivers & staff at The Hampton at Meadows Place and TruCare Hospice Services. The kindness & caring for our Mom was very much appreciated.
