Frank was born on October 21, 1941 in West Frankfort, Illinois, the son of Evan F. Smith and June Denham Smith. He is survived by his wife, Lourdes Chavez Smith and five children; Leah E. Smith, Deidra J. Smith, Evan F. Smith, Lucas E. Smith and Derek S. Smith; granddaughter, Cataleya M. Smith and grandson, Lucas E. Smith, Jr.
Frank served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961-1965. He then served in the U.S. Border Patrol from 1966-1970 when he transferred to U.S. Customs as a Criminal Investigator. Frank served in U.S. Customs until 1973 when he was transferred into the newly formed Drug Enforcement Administration. He served in Arizona, New Mexico, California, Texas, Florida and throughout Central and South America. After over 34 years combined Service, he retired in El Paso, Texas where he opened a Private Investigation Firm. Frank relocated with his family to Austin, Texas and continued to work as a Private Investigator and a Contract Investigator for Homeland Security until 2019. He actively served with AFNA, DEA Narcos, Legacy Border Patrol, TALI and Goodfellows.
Memorial services will be held Friday, May 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the San Gabriel Room at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas, with Minister Barbra Sonnen-Hernandez officiating.
