Frank was born in Harris, Oklahoma (one of 6 children). His family moved from Oklahoma to Pierre, South Dakota where he graduated from Pierre High School. Frank initially attended South Dakota School of Mines. He then joined the Air Force and eventually the Air National Guard. Frank's time in the military was critically important to him as he spent 23 years in the Air National Guard eventually retiring as Lieutenant Colonel in 1983. Frank honored his nation.
While serving in the Air National Guard, he went to the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a BS- Electrical Engineering in 1965. Bubba was an unapologetic Boomer Sooner. After graduating from OU, Frank worked in senior engineering roles at several high-tech companies in the Dallas-area including Texas Instruments and Recognition Equipment (first company to electronically validate checks). Frank moved to Michigan to work at Unisys and turned around several key divisions in the company. His last engineering roles were with smaller startup companies. Later he bought A&A Building Material Company, along with his stepson, Tracy. Frank was an excellent businessman and talented engineer.
Frank belonged to the VFW & American Legions. He served as Commander of VFW Post 9934 in Dana Point, CA. For a year, he served as Commander for the entire VFW in Orange County, CA.
Frank enjoyed whitewater rafting, golf, gardening and any sports associated with the University of Oklahoma Sooners (including women's softball) and Dallas Cowboys. In fact, he and Judy were married in 1973 on Texas/OU weekend. Judy being a lifelong Texas Longhorn fan, caused a house divided – not only among Frank and Judy, but the also the children and grandchildren. Though Frank and Judy followed different college teams, they were inseparable as a couple and were a great example of a loving couple in their nearly 50 years of marriage.
Frank was better known as ‘Bubba’ to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed cheering for them in sports and athletics. He also enjoyed watching them grow and become accomplished adults, pursuing their careers and starting families of their own. He also enjoyed many vacations spent entertaining them.
Frank and Judy settled in Liberty Hill, TX in 2014. On his 12 acres in Liberty Hill, Frank would be cutting watermelon in the morning, tending to his garden in the afternoon and eat a desert at 10pm all while still getting 15,000 steps a day. He envisioned having a place where friends and family could visit and enjoy the country. His vision became reality as there were so many fond memories at the Liberty Hill property. Frank was most proud of his 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his spouse, Judith (Swope) Tucker, his children, Cindy Thomas, Kenny Tucker and Stephanie Brannan, his stepson, Curtis (Tracy) Walker, his sisters, Billie Schneider and Jo Ann Schomer, his sons-in-laws, Pete (Pedro) Thomas and Bill Brannan. Also his grandchildren Dylan Pierpont, Devon Thomas, Daniel and Blake Tucker, Trinity, Eliya and Rachel Brannan, and his step-grandchildren, Melanie Alvarez and Matthew Walker, grandson-in-laws Hector Alvarez and Wesley Pierpont, granddaughter-in law, Katelynn Tucker. Also by his great grandchildren, Haley, June and Bode Pierpont, Raelynn Tucker, step-great grandchildren Peyton and Kurt Alvarez, and Sophia and Elianna Walker.
Frank will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
