Fred dedicated 29 years of his life to the Houston Police Department. He began his career as a police officer, later advancing to Crime Scene Investigation, and ultimately serving as a Homicide Detective. He was a memorable figure among his colleagues and to everyone who had the chance to know him. Known for his humor and his ability to treat every person as if they truly mattered, Fred left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Known to his family as “Bubba” and lovingly called “Paw Paw” by his grandchildren, Fred found joy in the simple things he loved most—metal detecting, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren. These moments brought him happiness and created memories that will be treasured by his family forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred L. Hale Sr. and Odett Decker Hale; and his sisters, Marsha Holden, Linda A. Hale, and Diana Hale.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Ann Monsour Hale of Galveston, Texas; his sister, Karen Hale of Alief, Texas; his daughter, Sarah Marie Hale Pursley and her husband, Billy Joe Pursley; his grandchildren, Eloise (11) and Robert (4), who was his namesake; and his son, David Hale and his wife, Rebecca Patterson Hale.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Houston, Texas at a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Fred’s memory.
Fred will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
