

She became a Christian as a young girl and was a member of Union Hall Baptist Church in Liberty Hill, Texas.
After graduating as the Valedictorian of her class from Primera High School in Harlingen, Texas and Nixon Clay Business College, Marie met and married Clinton Hollis Hefner Jr. He was a career Air Force man and the family lived in many places around the world and in the United States. Marie's main career was a homemaker and she loved and protected her family. They raised 5 children. After retiring from the Air Force they lived in Corpus Christi, Texas and Georgetown, Texas. In 1970 they settled in Leander, Texas. In 2006 she moved in with her son, Don.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
She is survived by her sons; George Hefner and wife Loretta, Charles Hefner and Donald Hefner all of Leander, Texas, Ronald Hefner and wife Nadine of Austin, and one daughter; Julia Pitts and husband Carl of Weatherford, Texas. She also leaves behind sisters; Medina Glenn of Round Rock, Texas, Ruth Cox of Georgetown, Texas, and Imogene Byrd and husband Monroe of Cedar Park, Texas, and one brother; J.D. West and wife Patsy of Corpus Christi Texas; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015, 10 a.m., at the Cook Walden/Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas followed by burial at the Whiteley Cemetery.
