Gerald Johnson

Born in Charlotte Michigan on September 22, 1946 to his parent Jean Brough Johnson and Galene Eugene Johnson. Gerald was a man of strong work ethic and lifelong learning. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1965, where he pitched for the baseball team and was a medal winning Cross Country runner. For his senior project he used his excellent woodworking skills to build an award-winning mahogany stereo cabinet.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts from Sam Houston State University, where he joined ROTC and was a proud member of the Lowman Rifles Drill Team. Following his education, Gerald honorably served his country in the Signal Corps in United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam Era.

On October 17, 1970, Gerald was united in marriage to the love of his life, Robbie, in Kerrville, Texas. Together, they built a life full of shared memories, devotion, and family, celebrating each year of marriage.

Gerald was meticulous about paying attention to details which advanced his professional career. He brought something unique to each company he worked for which allowed him to advance within each company. He started his career at Wolco Prestressed Concrete Manufacturing Co., followed by Blackwell Burner Co., Alice Roofing & Sheet Metal Works, Universal Glass, Pace Foods, and for the City of San Antonio, where he managed the city’s Fleet Replacement Program until his retirement. Outside of work, Gerald found joy in hands-on creative pursuits and the simple pleasures of life—he was an accomplished woodworker, an avid photographer, a skilled fisherman, and took immense pride in maintaining his yard. Gerald also enjoyed researching his family ancestry and built a large family tree with his sisters and traced his heritage back to the Mayflower.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Koons.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Robbie Johnson; his daughters, Teri Flores and her husband Sparky, and Lori Bender and her husband Aaron. Gerald leaves behind a legacy of pride in his five grandchildren: Ashton, Kaeleigh, and Rylan Flores, and Jeremiah Durham and Natalie Bender. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Landry and her husband Gene; his brother, Tom Johnson and his wife Jane; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Gerald’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas.
