Gerald L. Jones, age 72, of Georgetown, passed away on February 17, 2021. He was born on September 27, 1948 in Champaign, Illinois to William and Jewel (Merrick) Jones. He graduated from Watseka High School and worked in the trucking industry for many years. He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973.
Gerald had a passion for riding his Harley and enjoyed meeting new people wherever he traveled. He loved to laugh and tell jokes and cook at any opportunity. He never met a stranger on his travels or at home in his community. He loved his family more than anything and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Kimberly Jones (Max Baltazar) and Jeremy Jones (Amy); grandchildren, Kevin Rudd and Amanda Reid; and great-grandaughter, Julie Jones; and his siblings, Virgus Jay Jones (Dorothy), Richard Jones (Lora), Donald Jones (Norma) and Kathleen Cadwallader (Rick). He is also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews, thirty-three great nieces and nephews, and five great-great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
