Glenda Noreen Wilde

Glenda Wilde joined her beloved husband of 64 years, Gene, in heaven with our Lord on October 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, Ivy Leonard Shinn; her mother, Martha Marie Shinn; her older brother, James Dorace Shinn; her younger brother, Leonard Wayne Shinn; and her daughter-in-law, Letty Wilde.

She is survived by her sons, Daryl and Darin; her daughter-in-law, Beth; her grandchildren, Brittany, Michelle, Bennett, Sarah, and Brendan; and her great-grandchildren, Cade and the precious Brynn.

Glenda was born on November 20, 1933, in Red Rock, Texas, to Ivy and Martha Shinn. She spent her early childhood in Red Rock before the family moved to Taylor, where she attended high school and met her future husband, Gene. They were married shortly after Gene completed his service in the United States Army and moved to Austin, eventually settling in their home on Madison, where they lived for over 60 years.

Throughout the years, Glenda worked for American Founders Insurance and, as time allowed, held part-time positions at Brentwood Church and later at the Austin Independent School District administration offices. She was devoted to her family and her faith, and Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ was her church home for nearly 55 years.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped care for Glenda in her later years. Your smiles, love, and acts of kindness meant more than words can express.

Glenda almost always had a smile on her face and a kind word to share though she was known to have a bit of a mischievous side as well.

She will be laid to rest on October 20 at the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, Texas.
