Irene Jennie Godward

Irene Jennie Godward, widow of George Edward Godward, left us to be with the Lord on May 20, 2013. Her life exemplified what it means to be a good wife, mother, daughter, neighbor, and Christian. She was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church, and her dedication to God and family continues to live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Julie and Dale Ahrendt, Brenda and Rick O’Sail, and Roberta Godward; her son, George Godward and his wife Carrie; and eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

After retiring from a career as a Registered Nurse, Irene dedicated much of her time and energy to her family, serving her church, volunteering to help those in need, and supporting charities. She was well known for her love of animals and for always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. One of her favorite activities was feeding the ducks at San Gabriel Park with friends and her four-legged companion Chuey.

There will be a graveside service at I.O.O.F. cemetery in Georgetown, Texas at 11am on Saturday May 25, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, it is her request that donations may be made to the animal shelter in Georgetown, local SPCA, or the Salvation Army.
