Jack L. Messbarger, 83, of Georgetown, died on March 20, 2015 from complications following a severe head injury suffered in a fall. He was born in Burlington Junction, Missouri on January 23, 1932, the youngest of the thirteen children of Albert and Mary McClaren Messbarger. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict, he held a series of positions in Computer Operations and in Management with a number of organizations, including Martin-Marietta, the Internal Revenue Service (being among the first 30 employees hired to organize and open the Austin Service Center in 1963), and the Texas State Comptroller's Office. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten of his siblings, and the mother of his children, Donna Messbarger. Left to cherish Jack's memory are his wife, Diane Messbarger, his children from his first marriage, Vincent (Stacia), Jackie (Waymon Rogers), Tony, and Damien; his two step-sons Jeff and Jeremy Heath; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters, nieces and nephews, along with many friends and colleagues. Jack's marriage to Diane brought him much happiness for over 31 years. They moved to Sun City Texas in Georgetown in 1997, where they enjoyed their retirement years together with their many friends. A visitation will be held at the Gabriel's Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH-35, in Georgetown, Texas, on Monday, March 23, 2015, from 1 to 2 PM. A private graveside service will be held later at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery. The family suggests that friends who wish to make a memorial contribution in memory of Jack can send a donation to Hospice Austin's Christopher House either online at www.hospiceaustin.org, or by mail at Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road Suite 100, Austin TX. 78759.
