

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lou E. Swinney, daughter, Lisa Hirschi (Dave) and son, James E. Swinney. Also surviving are his brother in law, Harold Rowley (Teresa) along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Helena, Georgia on June 18, 1929 to Karon and James P. Swinney.
Jim served in the U.S. Navy from August, 1950 to June, 1954 and then in the U.S. Air Force from August, 1954 until his retirement in November, 1972.
After serving his country for 22 years, Jim went on to work in many areas including repairing and rebuilding Volkswagens, working on golf carts, doing small engine repairs, managing a golf course and driving cars for dealers.
Jim always took pride in his work and was a jack of all trades.
Jim's ashes will be interred at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas in January, 2026.
