James Charles Voltz

James Charles Voltz (Jim) died surrounded by his family on September 15, 2008 after a long and courageous 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born on May 22, 1946 to William and Geraldine Voltz (St. Marie) in Sandusky, Ohio. Jim graduated from Sandusky High School in 1964 and Parks College in St. Louis, Missouri in 1966. Jim’s love of planes took him into an aviation career that spanned 35 years, the last 23 years with Textron (Cessna). Jim and Cook moved to Sun City 5 years ago and he loved every minute of it and all the great people he met. Jim was a member of the following clubs: The Wood Shop, Aviation, Zoomers Men’s, Radio Control Sail Boat, and The Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife Cook; his wonderful children Jim Voltz (Amy), Ann Marie Filiere (Mitch), Scott Morrison (Maria), Mike Morrison (Christi); much loved and adored grandchildren, Austin & Makayla Filiere, Alexander Voltz, Taylor Morrison, Trace Morrison; and his brother Tom and sister-in-law Beth. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Geraldine Voltz, and his sister Sally Roesch. The family wishes to thank the many people who prayed and visited Jim and helped care for him and the family. Tom and Beth were especially helpful in Jim’s final days. The family is also grateful to Dr. Glenn Robinson and Dr. Laura Bunch with her staff at Southwest Regional Cancer Center for giving us an extended time with Jim. The Austin Hospice, especially nurse Bernie, has been a God send for all of us. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd. The family will receive friends at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday September 18, 2008, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 1:30 pm in St. Helen’s Catholic Church with Father John Guzaldo officiating.
