Jerry Y. Graves

Jerry Yvonne Graves, age 93, a longtime Austin resident, made his heavenly journey home on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Jerry was born on July 27, 1928 in Hico, Texas to Jerry Wysong Graves and Mamie Spaulding Graves.

Jerry had a passion for learning. After graduating high school in Stephenville, Texas, Jerry went on to attend three colleges; Brantley Draughon College, Nixon Clay College, and Central Texas College.

Jerry had many occupations in his life, he worked for Cook Paint & Varnish Co. in Waco, served four years in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant at Randolph and Lackland Air Force Bases, worked over 27 years in numerous positions at the U.S. Post Office in Austin, Texas, served as a bank courier, and became a licensed Realtor and Residential Property Appraiser.

Although he was kept busy with multiple careers and many passions, Jerry made time to be with his family. Jerry was a quiet man, however, the volume of his love spoke loudly. Even with a large family, Jerry never wanted anyone to feel left out. The door to the home shared by Jerry and Eugenia was always open.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Eugenia (Jean) Pearl Graves; 3 children, Cathy Bible, Jerry “Mike” Graves and wife Sherry, Judy Halter and husband James “Jim”, 7 grandchildren, Kelly Castleberry, David Bible and wife Tanna, Amy Nevland and husband Dave, Jonathan Graves and wife Lisa, Scott Graves and wife Cortney, Christina Franklin and husband Walter, Nick Hardin and wife Starr; and 13 great grandchildren, Ashlee, Stirling and Brilee Castleberry, Jack and Sam Bible, Rosemarie, Beck and Haddie Nevland, Mason and Mackenzie Graves, Matthew Bailey, and Christian Hardin.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clarence Kenneth Graves and sister, Faye Nell Graves, who passed away at birth, and son-in-law, Thomas Allen Bible.

Jerry was very loved and respected by all of those who knew him and will be greatly missed.
