John graduated from Kentucky Military Institute and then attended Northwestern University. He graduated with a degree in accounting in 1954. He worked for General Electric, Purdue University, and Steel Parts in Indiana.
John was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and several honorary organizations while at Northwestern. He was also a member of Mensa International and several athletic clubs in Sun City, Texas and he was a member of United Church of Christ in Kokomo, Indiana. John loved sports. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, and table tennis player.
John was predeceased by his parents, Robert Lee Lerch and Clare Connor Lerch, and his brother, Robert Connor Lerch. John is survived by his wife, Sara, and his three children, Stephen of Olympia, Washington, Meg LaVergne of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert of Columbia, Missouri. He is also survived by five grandchildren, John, Andrew, Richard, Clare, and Sarah, and one great-grandchild, Rowan.
To honor John’s life, a memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13 at 1:00P.M. in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to John’s preferred charities: Wounded Warrior Project, Salvation Army, and Doctors Without Borders.
