

John Monte Walton, 80, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on December 10, 2018 in the St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, Georgetown, Texas. Monte was born in Witchita, Kansas to Robert W. and Florence Walton on January 14, 1938. He graduated high school in Wichita Kansas in 1956. He went on to earn a degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Kansas. He then went on to earn his Master’s degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked as a Research Chemical Engineer for Jefferson Chemical Company which later became Texaco Chemical for 33 years and was responsible for a patent. After retiring from Texaco, he went on to obtain his teaching degree from Southwest Texas State University and taught in the Georgetown School District for 8 years before retiring.Monte was a little league baseball coach, a 4-H leader in multiple 4-H clubs around Williamson County including the Williamson County 4-H Hoofpicks Horse Club. He was also a long-time member and officer in the Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse. Monte is survived by his Wife of 56 years, May Evans Walton of Georgetown, Texas and sons Chris of Albany, New York; Corby (Lisa) of Magnolia, Tx; Coy (Joi) of McKinney, TX; and Clay (Kristi) of Georgetown, TX. He is preceded in death by his Father, Robert and his mother Florence. Funeral services will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, Tx on Saturday December 15, 2018 at 2 pm. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Georgetown, Tx.
