She left us for heaven on May 2, 2018, at age 74 after a lifetime of loving her family deeply and living fearlessly. She was an amazing Mother and Gran and Friend. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Wilbur Lyndal “Lynn” Cannon. She is survived by her two sons, Warren and Scott; her daughter-in-law, Gina; her grandchildren, Kirsten and Ashley Cannon, Karey and Jamie Cannon, Kalen and Marisa Cannon, Sharayah and Ryan Kurowski, Cierra Cannon, and Max Cannon; and her great-grandaughter, Isabelle Grace Cannon.
At the age of 18, Judi was introduced to 23-year-old Lynn by a mutual friend and a first blind date took place on March 17, 1962. On that date, Judi learned that Lynn wasn’t really crazy about animals. This almost ended the relationship before it started. But, as God would have it, a wedding took place on November 3rd of the same year in Austin, TX. Their honeymoon trip to the newly-opened Six Flags was unknowingly scheduled the day after it closed for the season. So their new life together began in a humble, one-room, rented cottage on a horse farm. Attempting to appeal to Judi’s love for animals, Lynn soon offered to buy his new bride a house or a horse. Judi wisely chose the house, as Warren came along in February of 1964 and Scott in May of 1965. After a few moves to San Antonio and the Dallas area in the early years of their family life, they settled in Round Rock, TX, in 1974. They shared over 50 wonderful years together and loved gatherings with family and friends.
Judi enjoyed painting, camping and fishing in her earlier years and she adored the many cats she owned over the years, along with a few rabbits, chickens, birds and even a pet squirrel. She always enjoyed being in the kitchen where she made the best birthday cakes and breakfast tacos and holiday feasts for her family and loved ones. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met and welcomed countless young people into her home over the years with open arms as she shared the love of Jesus with each and every one. Her greatest joy in life, however, was being known as Gran to the six grandchildren that she was blessed with. She will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know her and she truly left a legacy of love for her family.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock, TX. Graveside services will follow at 7:30 P.M. at Palm Valley Lutheran Cemetery in Round Rock.
Arrangements by Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628 (512)863-2564.
