Karen Louise Weston (Beck) of Georgetown, Texas, age 79, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on May 23, 2026, at The Delaney after a years-long struggle with dementia. Karen was born September 19, 1946, in Bethesda, Maryland to Irene Gertrude Beck (Poli) and Willard Michael Beck. After completing high school in suburban Maryland, Karen attended the University of Maryland in the late 1960s, leaving school after several years to start a family. Ms. Beck married Jon David Weston in 1968 and together they settled in Rockville, Maryland to raise two sons, moving to Georgetown, Texas in 2016 to be near their grandchildren. Jon and Karen remained married for 56 years, separated only by his passing in 2024.
Karen was initially a proud stay at home mother, only returning to work as her children entered their teen years. Utilizing her eye for detail and organizational prowess, she flourished as a paralegal for more than two decades. In addition to her career, Karen relished her roles as wife, mother and grandmother, supporting her husband, children and eventual grandchildren in all of their pursuits. In supporting them, she did more than just show up to their events, choosing to become a knowledgeable and passionate fan of various sports, including football, soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball and lacrosse. She enjoyed watching all the Washington DC professional sports teams, in particular her beloved and, at times, infuriating Washington Capitals and Washington Redskins (now Commanders).
Karen was consistently kind and quick to help others in need. Throughout her lifetime she provided her family and community with the much needed example of how to treat others compassionately and selflessly. If you asked for help, her answer was yes. No strings attached. This will be her legacy that will remain in the hearts of those who knew her best - a direct but gentle call-to-action to help others.
Karen is survived by her sister, Barbara; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Matty and Michelle, and Tim and Laurie; and her grandchildren, Nick, Abigail, Jack, Bodhi and Avery.
Karen will be cremated and her ashes sprinkled at her favorite place to go walking for exercise near her long time home in Maryland. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Austin, Texas. Those wishing to contribute in her memory can do so to the Mainspring Schools in Austin, Texas, an organization to which she often donated. More information can be found at mainspringschools.org.
