

Larry was born May 2, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Wilford Tadje Marwedel and Edith Lee Young Marwedel, the second of six children. Larry attended Olympus High School where he enjoyed performing on-stage with the dramatic arts department and competing in creative writing and speech. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Brigham Young University, a Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Tennessee, an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Deaf Studies, and a Certificate in Childhood Education at San Antonio College. He had a lifelong love of learning.
Larry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Public Health Service. He completed basic training at Fort Ord, California, after which he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He began active duty in the U.S. Army in 1970, serving as a medical social worker and obtaining the rank of Captain, during which time he received the National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He transferred to the U.S. Public Health Service in 1977, serving in the Indian Health Services Division of Clinical & Preventive Services – Alcohol & Substance Abuse Program. He retired in October 1994.
Larry met his eternal companion, Linda Kay Jeffs, when they were only eight and seven years old. They officially started dating in high school and have been together every day since. Larry and Linda were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 1961, and were happily married for 62 years. Together, Larry and Linda have six children, sixteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Larry was avid in family history, serving as the Marwedel family historian. He continued his interests and involvement in speech and drama throughout his life. He enjoyed going to concerts with his wife and travelled with her extensively, particularly enjoying cruise voyages lasting up to a month. Larry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several administrative and leadership positions.
Larry is survived by his wife, Linda, their children, Jeane (Teresa) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Carolyn of Pflugerville, Texas, Jim (Melissa) of Waukee, Iowa, Gary (Jyme) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Richard (Mary) of Centerton, Arkansas, their 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Mary and Connie, and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Laralin, his parents, Wilford and Edith, his brothers, Ken and Paul, and his sister, Karen.
The family would like to thank the amazing caregivers at the Baylor Scott & White Dialysis Center and Double Creek Assisted Living in Round Rock, Texas, and Concho Hearts Hospice for supporting Larry every step of the way.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on August 19, 2023, at the LDS Round Rock Chapel, 2400 A.W. Grimes Blvd., Round Rock, Texas, 78665 with a reception to follow. A Committal Service will be held at 1:45 PM on August 21, 2023, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas, 78209.
