

Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Gregoire, of Georgetown, TX, passed away November 11, 2023, in Ascension Seton Hospital, Round Rock, TX. He was born March 11, 1940, in Grand Forks, ND, to Mose and Lillian (Lane) Gregoire. Larry grew up on the family farm near Merrifield and attended Ellendale 61 Grade School. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1958 and was the class valedictorian. Larry joined the U.S. Army in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1968. He married Patricia “Pat” Gertrude Uhlir on April 18, 1964, in St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Thompson, ND. Larry earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Dakota in 1968. He is the father of three children and grandfather of three grandchildren.
Larry began working as an accountant for IBM in 1968 in Rochester, MN. In 1977, he transferred to Austin, TX, where he finished his IBM career as a system analyst in 1996. He continued working as a contractor for several companies including DMR/Amdahl Company, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Liberty Tax. He also worked as a census taker for the U.S. Census Bureau.
Larry was an active member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, TX, and participated in counting the weekly collections, the fund drive to build the St. Rita Activity Center, and serving as an hourly captain for the adoration chapel. He was a member of the KJT organization and Knights of Columbus. Larry was an avid reader and enjoyed working in the garden creating stone pathways from local limestone. He was a geology enthusiast and was known to collect stones and fossils during his travels. Larry appreciated nature and was eager to camp, fish, and hunt during his younger years. In retirement, he began whittling and carving wooden sculptures including a cross placed on the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania.
Larry is survived by his wife, Pat Gregoire of Georgetown, TX, son John (Shari) Gregoire of Katy, TX, son Jerry Gregoire of Corpus Christi, TX, daughter Linda (Carlos) Gregoire of Boston, MA, grandson Taylor Gregoire, grandson Patrick (Stephanie) Gregoire, and granddaughter Ayla Rodrigues, sister Beverly “Bev” (Steve) Cariveau of Grand Forks, ND, and sister Therese Button of Riverbank, CA.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Yvonne Tack of Desert Hot Springs, CA, sister Aneta “Tina” (Jim) Grassel of Grand Forks, ND, and brother Dale Gregoire of Grand Forks, ND.
A rosary service will be held on November 29, 2023, at 09:30 am at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 2700 East University Ave, Georgetown, TX. Immediately following the rosary, a funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am. Following both services, friends and family are invited to attend a bereavement lunch at the St. Rita Activity Center on St. Helen’s campus. A burial ceremony with military honors will be held the same day at 03:00 pm at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, 1117 East 7th St, Georgetown, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the MGH Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Research Program angiopathy.org or St. Vinent de Paul sainthelens.org at St. Helen’s Church.
