Linda Anne Gielow

Linda Anne Gielow passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 78. Linda was a creator at heart, who brought warmth and beauty into the lives of everyone around her. She channeled her passion for crafting and sewing into physical embodiments of her love for her family, constantly creating treasures such as birth announcements, scrapbooks, party invitations, and embroidered shirts for those she loved most.

Born in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Anne Weging, Linda spent her childhood as the eldest of eight children. Even as she was busy helping to care for her younger siblings, Linda prioritized her own learning. Graduating from the University of Illinois Chicago with a degree in Mathematics, she began her career as a middle and high school teacher. Linda’s lifelong curiosity led her to pursuing a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University. Armed with a sharp mind and talent for problem-solving, she held a distinguished career as a network engineer at Shasta County in Redding, Children’s Hospital of Dallas, Sabre, EDS, and Hewlett Packard, from where she retired.

Not only did Linda walk away from college with a love for learning, she was blessed by meeting the love of her life, Walter Gielow. The two were married in 1971 and spent the next 55 years growing a close knit family. Deeply devoted to one another, Linda and Walter cherished both adventure and quiet, simple days at home. Their marriage remains a model of how to live and love, emitting strength and warmth to all who passed through their circle. Whether she was embarking on camping trips, soaking in the magic of Disney, or simply hosting Sunday lunches, her family was always the center of her world. Above all, Linda strived to be present for every moment that mattered. She rarely missed a single sporting event, school recognition, or milestone for both her daughters and grandchildren. Her legacy of devotion, intellect, and creativity lives on in the hearts of those she loved most.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Walter Gielow; her eldest daughter, Jenny Strong, and her husband Bryan of Round Rock, Texas; her youngest daughter, Shelley Cook, and her husband Jason of Nacogdoches, Texas; and her grandchildren, Andy Strong and his wife Marley of Carmel, Indiana, Allie Strong of Round Rock, Texas, Katie and Kylie Cook of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Jacob Cook, his wife Taylor, and their daughter Caroline of Nacogdoches, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on September 24th at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
