Loretta Theresa Christensen, 87, passed away peacefully in her Round Rock home on September 16, 2019. Loretta was born in Orange, N.J. to Edward and Loretta Codey, their youngest child and only daughter. To her family, which included her two older brothers, John and Edward, she was always their “Babe.” She attended Our Lady of the Valley School in Orange and graduated from there in 1950. After a short stint working as a secretary she met William Abbott and was married at Our Lady of the Valley on May 14, 1955. Loretta and Bill had six daughters; Kathleen Nabors, Maureen Englishbey, Colleen McGlocklin, Mary Ellen Raymond, Eileen Jacobson, and Tracy Abbott. She and Bill left her beloved New Jersey and lived in several states before coming back to New Jersey for seven years before pulling up stakes once again and heading back to Texas for their final move together.
Her marriage to Bill ended, and she went back to work as a legal secretary in Houston. It was during this time that she met and married Ray. Together they enjoyed traveling all over the United States, Canada and even spent time in Thailand! They loved their motor home and all the adventures it afforded them and the many people they met along the way. They moved to Arizona and lived in Sun City for several years before returning to Texas to be near family. They bought a home in Georgetown, Tx. where they lived their remaining active years before moving into their Round Rock residence.
Ray Burdell Christensen passed away peacefully on January 24, 2019 at the age of 87 in his Round Rock home. Ray was born May 10, 1932 with his twin brother, Royce, in Waubay, South Dakota to Charles and Cora Christensen. When he was ten years old the family, including his older brother Neil, moved to Tacoma, Washington where he attended Franklin Grade School, Jason Lee Junior High School, and Stadium High School. Ray was a graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Ray was a Petty Officer 3d Class in the U.S. Navy and had a distinguished career as a Manager of Estimating for the engineering firm Bechtel.
Loretta and Ray are survived by Loretta’s grandchildren; Kaitee, Travis, Nicholas, Paige, Sarah, Emma, Bridget, Hannah, Ricky and Grace; one great-granddaughter Abbott Grey Spitzer; Ray’s brother Royce and his wife Maryann and their children Heidi and Erik; and Neil’s children Chuck, Tim and Mary Boyd.
