

Louis Daniel Miller passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2019 at the age of 95. He was the son of Martin Miller and Lydia (Vogler) Miller of the Jarrell/Walburg, TX area. His wife of 70 years, Gladys (Zoch) Miller preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and stepmother; Elsie (Lehman) Miller, two sisters and their spouses; Doris (Miller) Ischy, Edward Ischy, Mary Ann (Miller) Sydow, Gene Williams, and Vernon Sydow. He had two stillborn children, Phyllis and Robert. He is survived by his brother and his spouse; Emil Ray Miller and Betty (Brossett) Miller. He is also survived by his two daughters and their spouses; Janet (Miller) Rode, Luther Rode, Diane (Miller) O’Rourke, and James O’Rourke. He has six grandchildren and their spouses; Nicholas Rode (Monique), Laura (Rode) Cobb (Aaron), Alyssa Rode, Shawn O’Rourke, Sarah O’Rourke (Sirenavas), and Karen O’Rourke. He has two great grandsons; Mason Rode and Ayush Iyer. He has many beloved nephews and nieces, along with many wonderful and beloved friends.
Louis was a veteran of WWII. He served as an airplane mechanic and cook for the Armed Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa. He was a faithful and active member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Walburg, TX. He attended Ranger Branch School. He will be well remembered for his love and knowledge of tractors, especially antique tractors. He was part owner and operator of Millers Mechanical Mart in Georgetown, TX with his brother Ray for many years. He was known to be able to fix anything. He was a founder and long time member of Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association. He was also an active member of the Model A club.
The wake will be held June 9, 2019 at the Gabriel’s Funeral Home in Georgetown, TX from 6-8pm. His funeral will be June 10, 2019 at 2pm at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Walburg, TX. Pallbearers will be James Miller, Joey Miller, Lloyd Williams, Nicholas Rode, Matt Lindemann, and Sam McFarlin. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mason Rode. His beloved friend and nephew Mark Miller will be the speaker at the services.
