

Louis Williams, age 91, passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home in Georgetown, Texas, on Friday, February 10, 2012, to rejoin his beloved wife of 60 years, Bette, who preceded him in death.
Louis is survived by son Stephen and granddaughter Stephanie; by twins Lawrence and Laura and their spouses, Ann Williams and Jason Dowdle; and by Larry and Ann’s children, Chad and Julie Dobbs.
Louis was born on a farm in Allen, Texas, on the same day his maternal grandfather was buried. He graduated from Plano High School in 1938. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945, after serving in North Africa and Italy. He is a life member of the VFW and the American Legion.
After serving in the military, Louis enrolled at Southern Methodist University. He met his future wife Bette on a blind date to play bridge in early 1946, and they married later that same year. Louis graduated in 1948 with a degree in geology and worked 30 years as an exploration geologist with Sun Oil Company in Midland, Abilene, Corpus Christi, and Dallas.
Louis retired in 1978, and he and Bette moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1993. During retirement, Louis devoted most of his time to church, charitable activities, and golf.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Williams, Larry Williams, Jason Dowdle, Chad Dobbs, Jeff Bradford and Danny Koons.
In lieu of flowers, have a whiskey and/or make a donation to either Odyssey Hospice or to the VFW, both in Georgetown.
