Lynne Gurney

She is survived by her six children, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a loving extended family of relatives and friends.

Mary Lynne was born in 1933 to Gertrude and Wilbur Bradford of Oklahoma. She graduated from Watonga, Oklahoma High School in 1952, and married Don Gurney on July 13, 1952. They embarked on a life of ministry together, serving churches in Oklahoma, the Northwest, and Texas. They also served as BSU campus ministers in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy, and in Honolulu at the University of Hawaii.

Lynne loved college students, and felt a particular connection to International students. For many years they hosted students in their home for Sunday dinner, Bible studies, fellowship, and many weddings. She had a knack for providing lovely events on a shoestring budget, with logistical precision. She knew how to delegate. The Air Force Academy cadets in her care, lovingly dubbed her, “General Gurney.”

She loved her family and friends. She loved God, and she loved chocolate. She will be missed.
