Mamie Lee Thomas, 89, was called to her heavenly home on October 12, 2019, after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure. Her devotion to family and her firm belief in God supported her in this struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Mamie was born in Branchville, South Carolina where she was raised in the Baptist church, introduced into the Christian community, and held a firm belief in God.
Mamie was blessed with a large and loving family. She was a mother to four sons and a daughter. Along with family being Mamie’s passion and greatest love, she also enjoyed cooking, traveling the world, listening to music, playing the lotto, playing cards, and watching soaps, game shows, and wrestling.
Mamie had a sharp mind, a big heart, and an unrelenting spirit. She was quick-witted and possessed an infectious personality. To be around Mamie meant you were in for a day of good conversation and endless laughter. She was everyone’s cheerleader and always had words of wisdom and encouragement to share. Our hearts are broken now that she is gone. Mamie was a true blessing to all the lives she touched. She is deeply missed but will continue to live on in our hearts.
Mamie is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Dorsey; her sons, Ronnie and Todd Thomas; her grandchildren, Steven, Piccola, and Nicole Dorsey, and Anwar, Sunday, and Rachel Thomas, along with many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Gedell Sims; as well as many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her sons Johnny and Tony Thomas.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown with funeral services to follow at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow the funeral service at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown.
