Maria de Socorro Castillo

Maria de Socorro Castillo, 79 of Austin passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 with her loving family at her side.  The family will gather for visitation and a time for sharing memories on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH35, Georgetown, TX 78628.  A service celebrating Socorro’s life and her faith will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, March 4, 2011 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Georgetown Memorial Cemetery.

Maria de Socorro was born May 1, 1931 in Piedras Negras Coahuila, Mexico to the late Gregorio and Angelica Carrillo Sarmiento.  She is also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.  Socorro married Severo Castillo on September 15, 1957 in Mexico, and shortly after their marriage began they moved to the Austin area.  Socorro was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, her loving touch and home cooking will be truly missed.

Socorro leaves behind to continue her legacy her loving husband of almost 54 years, Severo Castillo, Sr.; her children, Dolores Moore and husband Russell of AZ, Severo Castillo, Jr. and wife Elvia of Georgetown, Pastor Diana Castelo and husband Pastor David Castelo of AZ, and Carlos Castillo and wife Sara of Austin; her five siblings, Vicente Sarmiento, Irene Sarmiento, Jose Sarmiento, Alejandro Sarmiento and Roque Sarmiento; her six beloved grandchildren, Natalia Soto, Armando Soto, III, Elizabeth Castillo, Crystal Castillo, Carlos Castillo, Jr. and Thomas Castelo; along with her aunt, Rev. Dora Reyes of San Antonio and numerous other loving family members and friends.
