

Maria DeLaLuz Perez, Age 84, of Georgetown, died Thursday, August 19th. She was born August 25th, 1936 in Big Wells, Texas to Manuel Menchaca and Concepcion Teran. Maria married Martin Rocha Perez on April 16th, 1955 in Des Plaines, Illinois. While Maria worked in various professions early in life, her love and purpose was to mother and care for others.
Maria DeLaLuz Perez was a loving wife, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Anyone that was fortunate to have known her felt the unwavering love and care that she radiated. She was an outgoing, giving person who loved animals, gardening, and cooking. She was known for her smile, her laugh, her hugs, her playful personality, and of course her eggs, papitas and homemade salsa. She lived vicariously through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by loving and supporting them in everything that they did in school, activities, and life.
Maria was a devout believer in God and a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 51 years, Martin Rocha Perez, her brothers Esteban, Roberto, and Jesus Menchaca, and her sisters Manuela Galan and Lydia Gonzalez.
A visitation with the family will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6-8 pm with the rosary beginning at 7 pm.
The funeral mass will take place the following day, Friday, August 27, 2021 at St. Helen Catholic Church beginning at 1:30 pm with the burial to follow at Georgetown Memorial Cemetery.
