Martha Louise Dykes Hopkins, age 90, of Georgetown, Texas, was born in Austin, Texas on October 3, 1935 to James Richard Dykes and Lessie Dee (Whitehead) Dykes and passed away on June 27, 2026 in Georgetown, Texas.
She grew up in Austin, Texas and attended Stephen F. Austin High School. As a teenager she was baptized at First Baptist Church of Austin, then later transferred to Union Hall Baptist Church in Liberty Hill, Texas.
As a young child she said she wanted to grow up to marry a sailor and become a nurse. She accomplished both. She married Lamar Wallace Sr. in 1953. They had one child, Lamar Wallace Jr. That marriage did not last. She then married Doyle Hopkins on July 19, 1958. They had one child, Dianne Hopkins (Castleberry). She later on went to nursing school and graduated with top honors and became a licensed vocational nurse. She worked at Bertram Nursing Home for several years until she retired to become a stay at home granny.
She loved her family very much and would do anything for them. She also loved to work outside in her garden and take care of all the animals that she had over the years. She worked very hard her whole life for everything she had, but still found time to enjoy life, and even traveled to different parts of the world with her family.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, James Dykes Sr and Lessie Dykes; her husband, Doyle Hopkins; and her brothers, Billy Dykes and James Dykes Jr.
She is survived by her son, Lamar Wallace; daughter, Dianne (Hopkins) Castleberry; granddaughter, Amber Castleberry; brothers, Gene Dykes and John Dykes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to give many thanks to Georgetown Living and Tranquility Hospice for taking very good care of our mom.
