To Martha's family, my deepest condolences on her passing. I have known Martha from our years at Bassett Junior High School. I remember her as smart, funny, a jokester---with many freckles that gleamed with her laughter! She was always the picture of perfect hair, no wrinkles in her clothes (we wore cotton skirts and blouses that wrinkled in our heat!!), and perfectly polished shoes!! How ironic is it that after being away from El Paso for 40 years that I should move back and end up on the same street, opposite end, of where Martha and Charlie had lived for many, many years! I am not surprised that Martha was such an accomplished person, attaining her Ph.D. She was very bright always. I know she was extremely proud of her family, and rightly so. Please know you have my sincere best wishes for your comfort and peace during this most devastating loss.

I am so very sorry to learn that we have lost my dear friend Martha. I have such good memories of our wild and crazy high school days. I remember one late night at a slumber party when we vowed never to go to Ysleta again after a dire warning from the Ouija Board. That was no problem for me, but Martha was quite distressed since she had relatives that lived there. The best friends are the ones you remember with a laugh in your heart and a smile in your eyes. Charlie, Stephanie and Melissa and Michelle, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Love, Gretchen
