Marvin Yauck was born on March 1, 1941, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Ruth and Henry Yauck. He was the oldest of three brothers, Leslie and Norman. After graduating from Follett High School on May 13, 1960, Marvin ran the family farm alongside his brothers. He worked hard, built lasting friendships, and always stayed close to his roots. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Brenda Kay, and they were married on March 7, 1980.
On that special day, Marvin became the proud father of Neal and Todd Keith—roles he cherished deeply. He immediately embraced the role, not just taking on the joy they brought, but also the headaches and occasional mischief only teenage boys can deliver. Neal later married Sharon Kimble, and Todd married Sherry Crow. Todd and Sherry were blessed with two wonderful children, Jon and Melissa, who brought Marvin and Brenda endless joy and pride.
Together, Marvin and Brenda made their home in Darrouzett, Texas, where they opened a flower shop. Marvin had a unique and creative talent for floral arranging, combining his artistic eye with his practical, hands-on nature.
After several years, they relocated, first to Gonzales and later to Austin. Marvin spent this time driving heavy equipment and trucks, dedicating himself to his own urban landscaping projects and serving as a handyman for all—always ready to fix or build. During this time, Marvin and Brenda opened their home and hearts, welcoming Jim, Kelly, Ashley Lott, and Sharon, Steve, and Kate Kimble as forever family.
To be closer to family, Marvin and Brenda moved to Oklahoma City when their first grandchild, Jon, was born there. It was a joyful new chapter, filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Marvin stayed busy tending his garden and spending time with Jon, never running out of projects to tackle. Marvin and Brenda also loved to travel the world together with friends and family, exploring new places far and wide. When their granddaughter Melissa was born, they began to have the opportunity to visit and explore Maryland, spending time with her and making wonderful memories on the East Coast.
After several wonderful years in Oklahoma City, Marvin and Brenda moved once more—this time to Hutto, Texas. There, Brenda continued her long and accomplished career as a medical technologist supervisor at Round Rock Hospital, while Marvin embraced his passions for collecting, socializing, and spending time outdoors. He loved connecting with people, sharing stories, and savoring the simple moments that made life meaningful.
Marvin was truly a jack of all trades—and unlike most, he was actually a master of almost all of them. From truck driving and carpentry to gardening and the surprising finesse of flower arranging, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do. He loved tractors, gardening, and being outdoors—simple pleasures that brought him joy throughout his life.
Marvin never met a stranger. He had a special gift for conversation and could make anyone feel like an old friend. He loved collecting things, though if you knew Marvin, you knew he rarely just "collected things"—he was a devoted curator of items whose value was crystal clear only to him, usually filling his garage to capacity. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with people. He especially loved grilling and sharing a good meal with family and friends—a generous host whose love was measured by how full your plate was (and how long he could keep you talking).
Marvin also had a lifelong love for animals, caring for many over the years, most recently Peanut, Tasha, Dude, and Bogger, plus a few lucky fosters who found a loving stop along the way with him.
Brenda preceded Marvin in death in January 2022. They shared over four decades of love, laughter, and partnership—truly a bond that time could never break.
Marvin will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and his generous spirit. He lived fully, loved deeply, and made the world a brighter place for everyone he met.
“He never met a stranger—only friends he hadn’t talked to yet.”
Marvin and Brenda are together again.
