Mary Julia (Willis) Baker, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Georgetown, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born on November 5, 1930 in Athens, Texas to Fenton Stevens Willis and Berta Mae Clark.
Mary grew up in Athens, Texas and eventually moved to Houston where she met her husband, Woody Baker. Mary was a homemaker and also retired from J C Penney after over 20 years of service. Mary and Woody moved to Georgetown in 1990. They celebrated 68 wonderful years of marriage on January 15, 2017.
Mary had three children - Cynthia LeVrier (husband Hugh) of Austin, Texas, Patricia Byrne (husband Pat) and Keith Baker (wife Melanie) all of Georgetown, Texas. Mary was blessed with 10 grandchildren - Adam, Yvette (husband Yuen), Justin (wife Ashley), Lisa (husband Michael), John (wife Caroline), Heather (husband Keith), Michael (wife Melissa), Bailey, Brooks and Blaire; and 9 great-grandchildren - Julian, Alexander, Oliver, Elliott, Bowen, Coleman, Cadence, Camryn and Cayla. Mary had one sister, Maggie Charalampous, of Pasadena (son Alex, of Webster). She was also blessed with countless cousins, extended family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Lisa Marie (Byrne) Sabra.
Special thanks to those who spent countless hours caring for Mary, her loving husband Woody, daughter Patricia, grandson Michael and his wife Melissa, friends Jeanie Byrne and Gloria Johnson, and all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home at 2900 Williams Dr., Georgetown, Texas 78628. Funeral services to celebrate Mary’s life led by Pastor Dan Woolridge will be held at the same location on Sunday, February 19, 2017 starting at 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral at the Liberty Hill Cemetery at 16101 TX-29, Liberty Hill, Texas 78642. Following the services, family and friends are invited to Mary and Woody’s home for refreshments and visitation.
