A service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11am at the First United Methodist Church, Round Rock - 1004 N. Mays St., Round Rock, Texas 78664. Matthew was born on January 31, 1998 in Temple, Texas to Andrew and Connie Hood. He lived in Grapevine, Texas until 2001 when the family moved to Pressath, Germany. While there Matthew attended kindergarten in Grafenwoehr, Germany. After moving back to the United States in 2004 Matthew continued his education in the Round Rock Independent School District where he was about to begin his junior year at Stony Point High School. Matthew was an avid lover of sports and other outdoor activities. During his young life he played baseball at every level, beginning with T-ball in Germany and then the Round Rock Youth League. His primary position was Catcher and he ultimately played High School baseball with the Stony Point Tigers. Matthew also played football with the Round Rock Youth League; his team won the National Youth Championship in Las Vegas, NV in 2009. He was an avid fan of Texas A&M and had aspirations of attending the University one day. An outdoor enthusiast, Matthew loved the special times hunting and camping in South Texas with his dad, and he treasured his salt-water kayak fishing trips with his uncles and cousin. Matthew's love of fishing wasn't limited to salt-water; just about any lake or pond would do. He had numerous friends and fishing buddies, including his sisters. An entrepreneurial young man, Matthew began mowing lawns at age 12 and later formed his own lawn care business complete with business cards, flyers and a detailed logbook. His business sense and many satisfied customers enabled him to cover half the cost of his truck, as well as, his fuel and insurance expenses at a very young age. Matthew will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a loving, caring, spiritual young man that anyone would be proud to call their son, brother, grandson and friend.
