It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Max L. Hearn. He passed peacefully on March 12, 2025 at the age of 88.
Max was a caring and loving husband and father who dedicated his life to his family and career.
Max was born on August 15, 1936, in Forest Hill Louisiana to Leo and Hilma Hearn. Max attended The University of Louisiana, Lafayette where he met the love of his life, Lorraine Duhon. They married in May 1958 and had a beautiful and loving marriage and raised two boys Mark and Allan. Max and Lorraine were married for over 65 years.
Max was preceded in death by his brother Gale, wife Lorraine and son Mark, and is survived by his sister Wanda Johnson, his son Allan and daughter in law Julissa, daughter in law Brenda Hearn, grandchildren Marcus and Melissa and great grandchildren Haley, Kemryn and Charlie.
Max received a B.S degree in Petroleum Engineering at The University of Southern Louisiana in 1958 and a Master of Science degree in 1971.
Max spent 30 years active duty in the United States Air Force. He was a pilot and civil engineer. He began his career as an Instruction Pilot in 1965. He went on to serve in Vietnam as a pilot and later as an instructor pilot. Max’s career included flight training, reconnaissance operations, director of flight operations and base commander.
Throughout his career he was recognized for his achievements. Medals included Distinguished Flying Cross, Vietnam Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Pistol Ribbon, AF Overseas Service Long Tour and Short Tour Medals, Presidential Unit Citation, Legion of Merit Medal, and many others.
He was a loving husband to Lorraine, Max was a pillar of strength and support for his family. He had a stoic sense humor and was always made people feel at ease around him. He will be deeply missed by all that new him. He touched so many peoples lives with positivity and sage advice.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday April 25th 2025 at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church.
